You are indeed my rock and my fortress; for your name’s sake lead me and guide me.

Psalm 31:3

Symbols of Faith in Everyday Life

We often sing songs about the unshakable foundation of our faith, our rock. But let’s not stop at singing; let’s also share a piece of that rock with those who gather, even if it’s just a picture or a song link for our online congregation. The idea is to refocus our attention on everyday rocks we’ve grown so accustomed to that we no longer truly see them. Let’s make them the center of our worship, letting them resonate with divinity. These ordinary rocks become reminders of God’s presence and promise, and this transformation is the essence of worship – making the divine visible in our everyday lives. This week, it’s easy to find symbols in Peter’s words about living stones and in Psalm 31’s depiction of the Lord as our supporting rock. The truth is, the best symbol of God’s presence is found in all of us, the entire body of Christ – we are the stones, and God is our unshakable rock.
