Always Be Ready

Peter reminds us that we should always be prepared to provide an explanation for the hope that resides within us (1 Peter 3:15 NRSV). While this may sound straightforward, it’s both simple and intricate. In today’s world, few demand such an account at the risk of imprisonment, job loss, or expulsion from school, at least in most regions. Instead, we must seize moments when inquiries arise, such as discussing our Sunday routines or the significance of our charitable giving. These are prime occasions to share our faith, but only if we are ready. Worship serves as a platform to inspire us, offering examples and opportunities to narrate our spiritual journeys. It becomes a celebration of our identity and Christ’s ongoing impact in our lives, preparing us for dialogue beyond our immediate surroundings. In essence, we should always stand ready to tell our story of faith.
