The LORD is my strength and my might, and he has become my salvation; this is my God, and I will praise him, my father’s God, and I will exalt him.

Exodus 15:2

Creating Space for Forgiveness in Worship

Our series wraps up with a thought-provoking question, one posed by Peter: “How often should we forgive?” While we readily acknowledge the answer in theory during worship, the practical application in today’s divisive times presents a significant challenge, as evident in the news. This question prompts us to consider whether we should adopt a countercultural approach, resisting the prevailing currents of anger and vengeance. Though it may seem risky, it also carries the potential for transformative change if we fully embrace it.

We should create space for forgiveness in our worship, urging one another to reflect on it. We can start by sowing seeds of introspection and inviting contemplation about forgiveness in our daily lives. Let the Holy Spirit guide us as we grapple with forgiveness throughout the week, recognizing that we’ve all pondered Peter’s question.
