[37] Jesus replied: “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’ [38] This is the first and greatest commandment. [39] And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbour as yourself.’

Matthew 22:37-39

We continue to envision what it would be like to live in the kin-dom of God as a community of faith. But this week, our focus is on the doing. It’s essential for us to understand that loving God and loving neighbour isn’t about cultivating attitudes or generating feelings or emotions. While having a warm heart towards those with whom we serve is great, it’s not a prerequisite. When we’re given the commandment to love God and love neighbour, it’s all about how we act, about what we do, and how we show love in day-to-day encounters, casual points of contact, as well as moments of mission and ministry.
